Renaissance in Perugia
Duration: 3 hours
Visit the Umbrian National Gallery located in the Prior's Palace viewing works by Beato Angelico, Piero della Francesca, Perugino and others. Proceed to the Collegio del Cambio (exchange building) where money was exchanged. Here, view frescoes by Perugino and his pupils. Continue your visit with the Chapel of San Severa featuring works by Perugino and Raffaello. Continue to the Duomo of San Lorenzo visiting its museum with works by Agostino di Duccio and Signorelli's Madonna and Saints. End the tour with a stroll down Via dei Priori to the Oratory of St. Bernardine, Duccio's Renaissance jewel.

Etruscan and Roman Perugia
Duration: 3 hours
The emphasis of this tour is on Etruscan and Roman history. See the gateway of Porta Marzia dated from the 2 nd century B.C. leading to an unusual underground street with homes from the 15th and 16th centuries. Then visit the famous Etruscan Well where water still runs through, and the Arch of Augustus. Admire a remarkable collection of Etruscan urns and bronze at the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria. Complete your tour with a visit to the Necropolis (cemetery) built into the rocks.

Assisi – in the footsteps of St. Francis
Duration: 4 hours
Visit the walled city of Assisi where St. Francis made his home. Admire St. Francis' Basilica, home to two superimposed churches. The lower basilica dating the 13th century is lined with frescoes depicting the life of St. Martin . The Upper Basilica is in Gothic style with frescoes by Cimabue, and Giotto. Proceed with a visit of Santa Chiara church then take a tour of Santa Maria degli Angeli venerated as the place of St. Francis' death. Inside the grand Baroque basilica are two small, humble structures: the Capella del Transito and the Porziuncola.

After lunch transfer to Gubbio (by car), the city where Saint Francis lived for part of his life. The historic center, with its famous Piazza Pensile, houses Palazzo dei Consoli and Palazzo Ducale.  The town is famous for its “Festa dei Ceri” (the race of the Candles) held on May 15th. Visit to the Churches of San Francesco, Santa Maria Nuova and Sant'Agostino both with frescoes by Ottaviano Nelli.

Special Events

Umbria Jazz - Perugia
Held each year during the month of July, the Umbria Jazz Festival takes place amongst the Roman ruins, mediaeval ramparts and elegant churches of Perugia. Stages are set up in its streets of pale stone houses in this University city overlooking the valley of the Tiber. The festival lasts for ten days and has a mixture of jazz legends and new talents from all over the world.

Festival dei due mondi (Festival of Two Worlds) - Spoleto
International drama, music and dance festival held every year. Last week in June and first two weeks of July.
